Imagine a place where children run barefoot to the barn in the morning—because they want to, not because they have to. A place where the hen lays the egg that later ends up in the Dorfladen. Where parents sit in the lobby with their breakfast coffee while, outside on the mountain hillside, the first ski attempts begin.

We believe in what remains when everything else gets loud: breakfast together with a view of the mountains. Wondering at the small things—and the big things that grow from them. Between the Dorfalm, Dorfladen, kids’ barn and natural swimming pond, a place is created that doesn’t need to be explained, but wants to be felt.
The Schiefer family is rooted in Flachau. They know every path and every sunrise over the mountains. And they knew: if they were to create a place for families, it had to be authentic. Honest. And full of life.
With the Dorfalm, they already created a place where people come together. With the Dorfladen came a deeper awareness—of origin, regionality and quality. But something was still missing: a place where families don’t just eat and shop, but can simply be. Together. Carefree. Right in nature—without giving up comfort.
That’s how the idea for the Schiefergut Family Resort was born: a lively place with real animals, warm wood and a sense of freedom you only feel in the countryside. A place their two sons—Simon and Rupert—discover with wide-open eyes, between the chicken coop, hay jumping and the Sky Pool.
Simon grew up on the farm—as the son of Maria and Simon senior. He knows every corner of Flachau, every season, and many guests by name. In 2019, he built the Dorfalm, with the idea of creating a place where people love to come together. Honest, easy-going, warm.
The farm itself was shaped over many years by Maria and Simon senior. With a lot of dedication and love, they ran and developed the farm. Today, the responsibility lies with Martina and Simon. Maria is still there for the guests, and Simon senior helps out in the barn. Both are there where they’re needed.
Martina brings a love of detail. She makes sure guests feel welcome—from the very first moment. In the restaurant, in the Dorfladen and in the resort. She sees what’s needed.
Together, Martina and Simon built Schiefergut. As a place for their family. And for families looking for exactly that: connection. Nature. Time that lasts.
